The Annandale also had a very colourful history, it was previously a hub of the Sydney Live music scene and when purchased by the Oscars Group there was community concern over the loss.
At our first site visit the main bar area was all black, walls, floor and ceiling, the carpet stuck to your shoes like sticky tape when you walked and the whole venue was in disrepair. Due to the rich history of the venue we attempted to retain the existing fabric of the pub as much as possible, tiling, ceiling and bar location, we wanted to celebrate the building and history of the building but make it a place people wanted to come when the live music wasn’t on.
